Description

SUMMARY:  The Junior Systems Administrator, plans and maintains networks, servers, workstations, telephone systems and peripherals. This position also provides high level end user support at the software application and hardware levels.  This position also provides server level systems administration, basic support testing, and deployment of new applications and systems.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

  • Perform basic systems administration tasks, and server management activities.
  • Ensure appropriate maintenance of user accounts using Active Directory, as well as other computer systems as needed.
  • Deploy system software updates at the workstation level, agency wide and provide support.
  • Maintain, monitor and assist support of telephony systems.
  • Configure, deploy, and maintain various workstation configurations, and hardware/software maintenance of servers and backup systems
  • Assist in the monitoring of infrastructure and systems, utilizing dedicated application software.
  • Respond, resolve, and follow up to assist systems users in a timely and professional manner; escalate issues that cannot be immediately resolved; ensure adequate support to agency end-users in the correct operation of hardware and software systems and applications.
  • Maintain inventory of technology related supplies and equipment.
  • Travel to all sites to perform related systems administrative functions as required.
  • Consistent attendance and punctuality are required of this position.
  • Work with Information Technology team members on various projects and other critical tasks.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS: 

  • Provides coverage for other areas of the Technology Department as required.
  • Participates in the after-hours support rotation schedule

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience in Computer Science or Information Systems.
  • Understanding of basic Systems Administration techniques and principles, as well as a high level of end user support, and issue resolution.

 

COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of desktop hardware/software, Windows 10/11 Desktop, general Linux knowledge, TCP/IP networks, MS Office, Active Directory.
  • Basic knowledge of client systems and peripherals set up, along with experience in troubleshooting techniques in a Windows network environment.
  • Basic knowledge of the principles of switches, network hardware, telephony and troubleshooting.
  • A self-motivated team player, with strong initiative and customer service, with excellent oral/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently with the capacity to adapt to a changing environment and priorities.
  • Ability to document system processes and refine such documentation.
  • Willingness to train and learn new technologies and systems.

 

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES:

  • Current Oregon or Washington Driver’s License.
  • May be required to attain a Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or ability to acquire within 90 days of hire.
  • Crisis Prevention training completion within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to operate a personal computer for extended periods of time and to move between computers and workstations routinely, including reading     from a computer monitor, keyboarding, and using a mouse.
  • Periodically bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, and reach.
  • Ability to use close vision to view users’ computer screens and to install equipment.
  • Periodically lift and carry office equipment up to 20 pounds.   
  • Must be able to follow infection control practices and safely work in patient-focused environment.
  • Ability to safely operate a motor vehicle and transport equipment/deliver computer-related items on short notice.

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Negative results on all pre-employment, reasonable basis, and post-accident drug screens.
  • An acceptable criminal record as determined by DHS, the Oregon Administrative Rules, and the Oregon Revised Statutes; and no current supervised parole or probation.
  • An acceptable driving record and the recommended amount of personal automobile insurance as determined by CODA’s automobile insurance provider.
