Sr. Systems Administrator - Linux

The Opportunity

• This Systems Administrator will be joining at a key point in our platform/systems architectural redesign; participating in the proof of concept, design, building, and operating of systems run at scale.
• Provide large scale data center hardware/operating system expertise and deploy a high availability multi-site private cloud like infrastructure.
• Identify, resolve, and prevent existing and future system bottleneck issues with modern configuration management frameworks.
• You will work on optimizing and continuously improving our infrastructure to support the growth of our platform to 10 Million fee based networks and beyond.
• Participate in a tier-2 on-call rotation that will also provide additional collaboration with QA and Engineering for coordinated code releases.

The Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years experience building and managing a lights out data center infrastructure consisting of 500+ servers/nodes.
• Experience in tools creation and application maintenance with strong scripting in one or more of the following languages: Perl, Bash, Python, or Ruby.
• Must possess a strong mindset for automation. Hands on experience with frameworks like CFengine, Puppet, or Chef is a very big plus.
• Deep rooted knowledge and experience administering and configuring Linux systems in a consumer facing web application environment. Experience with Solaris is also a plus.
• Expert command of TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, SMTP, DHCP, SNMP, LDAP and other core systems administration protocols.
• Must be ready willing and able to share in occasional shared load of datacenter racking, stacking, and configuration duties.
• Experience setting up and managing various monitoring systems such as Nagios, Zenoss, Splunk, or similar. Must have more than just a superficial knowledge of these systems.
• Strong background in troubleshooting large scale, high volume services with multiple dynamic components including web servers, SQL databases, Java application servers, and LAMP environments.
• Experience with NetApp Filer NFS, SAN management, and high-end Brocade fiber switching a plus.
• B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
