Role : Sr Cassandra Database Administrator Location: San Jose , CA (Hybrid, 1 day remote in a week) Duration: Contract (W2 Only) Β Job Description: In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for maintaining and supporting a production-grade Cassandra environment and ensuring database health, performance, and availability. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment, understands Cassandra architecture inside and out, and has strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for performance issues.
Duties:
Documents and implements requirements and solution design
Reviews and provides feedback for system design solutions that will impact their area
Provides input to system capacity plans
Participates in installation and configuration activities
Develops and maintains procedures and system documentation
Performs systems resource optimization (e.g., performance tuning activities)
Participates in major updates supporting new requirements and maintaining systems currency
Participates in implementing resource management and monitoring methods and tools
Develops, implements, monitors and administers system access, resources, backups and DB maintenance processes or jobs
Provides input for performance management and capacity planning
Participates in systems management and Security Compliance activities
Supports resolution of production incidents
Their work within their domain(e.g., Oracle DBA)
Proposes mitigation plans for identified risks and problems
Suggests process improvement and best practices
Iterates and improves upon stable technologies and processes
Provides work effort planning and estimates for system administration and engineering work
Justifies decisions and achieves peer consent
Sphere of influence is across IT Teams
Actively shares technical knowledge within domain their team and others
Collaborates with other DBAs, Developers and TDS Systems Engineers
Mentors co-workers within areas of expertise
Participates in staff recruiting
Works with contract resources and provides guidance
Self-directing and provides direction to other DBAs in their domain
Must Have:
Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience as a Cassandra Database Administrator.
Strong knowledge of Cassandra architecture, configuration, and tuning.
Proficiency with patching and upgrading Cassandra in a production environment.
Demonstrated experience in schema design, performance troubleshooting, and handling large-scale distributed systems.
Comfortable supporting a 24x7 environment, including shared on-call rotation.
Proven experience in looking at , pulling & using data (data manipulation)
Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced setting.
